Small intimate weddings are growing in popularity. Not only does it help to achieve a more intimate ceremony, it also has the added bonus of saving money.
There are some handy rules that you can follow to help you achieve a smaller guest list:
- If neither the bride or groom has met the person then don’t invite them, do not invite ‘3rd cousin Nelly’ whom neither of you has ever met.
- If you haven’t spoken to the potential invitee in more than 1 year then cull them, this goes for friends and family.
- Don’t feel guilty! Don’t invite someone just because they invited you to their wedding 5 years ago.
- Be firm about plus ones. Only offer a plus one to couples who are married, engaged, or living together in a long term relationship. Never extend the offer to the whole guest list or you will end up with a bunch of randoms at your wedding
